Hotel Adele

The room was comfortable, very clean, and had everything I needed. The location was close to everything but still peaceful and quiet. Check-in was quick and smooth, and check-out was easy too. I had a great stay and would happily come back. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

After a long journey, we arrived late on 16.07.2025, exhausted and ready to settle into the Deluxe Room we had booked four nights earlier. The glossy website photos suggested spotless surfaces and tasteful decor. Instead, we found hairs in the bathroom, dust on the lamps, TV remote and other surfaces, and a stale, suffocating smell like an unventilated museum exhibit. There was no air conditioning or even a fan, so we opened the window. That looked onto a logistical courtyard with a trash bin, where staff talked loudly until about 4 a.m. The thin mattress dipped on one side, and the supposedly fast Wi-Fi crawled at around 2 Mbps, barely enough to send a complaint email. With the window open, neighboring rooms could see straight in, and the semi-transparent bathroom door had a broken lock, leaving us vulnerable in private moments. We managed about six restless hours of sleep and woke at 12 p.m., thirteen hours after check-in. We knew we couldn't stay another night. In daylight, a staff member, whom we'll call Jim to protect his anonymity, documented the dirt, arranged to repair the lock, and contacted management for us. We also contacted Booking.com, but were told the owner wasn't willing to resolve things peacefully. Jim tried calling her too, and we asked for her number so we could speak with her directly. After several attempts, the owner finally answered. She said we were the first ever to complain, which is false, as other reviews show. She blamed seasonal dust and outside noise, then scolded us for not reporting the problems right away, even though there was no reception at night and the issues unfolded in the early hours. She lectured us that anyone expecting a five-star stay should book a five-star hotel at a higher rate, demanded compensation for her time, and hung up. We packed and left without a refund for the remaining three nights or any other recourse. We gave the key to Jim, who told us simply to put it in the checkout box. There was no formal receipt, apology, or offer to make things right. We found another hotel for a similar price, without these problems, and finally enjoyed the rest of our days in Berlin. Hotel Adele am Alex left us feeling that its photos were misleading, unmanned check-ins can leave guests stranded, and even its friendliest staff member can't make up for systemic neglect. Until the housekeeping is overhauled, basic climate control is installed, privacy fixtures are fixed, and genuine support is provided, I can't recommend staying here.

We had a great stay. The room was spacious and clean, with a large washroom. Having coffee and tea in the room was convenient, and we really appreciated the fan. The hotel is just a tram stop or two from the Berlin TV tower, with lots of stores and restaurants nearby.

The location is great and the rooms have plenty of space, but the furniture has problems and the service was terrible. One side of our mattress was broken and badly dipped, so sleeping on it was very uncomfortable. When my partner told reception, the receptionist laughed and said there was nothing he could do. That was unprofessional, and it was disappointing that the hotel wouldn't fix the problem, for example by moving us to another room.
