Hotel Friedenau Das Literaturhotel

Friedenau has shops, restaurants and cafes, plus good connections around Berlin and to Potsdam. The hotel is in a lovely leafy area, about 15 minutes from Mitte. It’s a classic boutique place, with characterful rooms, a pretty garden full of flowers and a breakfast room where they serve a sumptuous breakfast.

The individual rooms, with their books and artwork, feel cozy and personal, and some are a little small. I liked the warm, intimate feel and the Biedermeier furnishings. Set in peaceful Friedenau, the hotel makes it easy to reach Berlin attractions while still feeling quiet. Its literary theme gives the place a distinctive charm, especially for anyone who loves books.

Christina was a great host, and Alysia was a big help with directions. Breakfast was one of a kind, with lots of variety and creative ways of serving the food. The accommodation is basic but beautiful, and the garden is incredible, full of greenery and flowers with birds singing all around.

The owners and staff were very hospitable, and the leafy, stylish neighborhood has some very good restaurants just steps away. Friedenau has been home to plenty of famous writers over the years, which makes the hotel's name, das Literaturhotel, fitting. There's even a whole wall devoted to them. The family-run place also has an attractive garden, an old-world breakfast room with excellent food, and rooms with more character than most. It's a long way from the city center, though the S-Bahn is around the corner and the metro isn't far. It's not cheap, but I felt it was worth every penny.
