Mercure Hotel Berlin Zentrum

The room was comfortable and clean, and the location was quiet, close to KaDeWe shopping center and subway and bus lines. The rooms are a little old, but I liked the powerful hot shower. I stayed four nights. At check-in, the front desk said I had to ask before 10 am if I wanted housekeeping. I did ask once, but they never cleaned the room. They only took the trash and changed the towels. Housekeeping was the worst I’ve ever experienced, and my stay at this Berlin hotel was very disappointing.

I booked at 12:56 on the same day and got the hotel’s confirmation at 13:04. Then, at 13:26, they messaged to say their “rules” prevented them from accommodating someone who lives in Berlin, although the booking conditions didn’t mention any such restriction. I’d received confirmation and wasn’t checking messages just a couple of hours before check-in. That left me scrambling to find somewhere else to stay. Extremely unprofessional.

The staff were fantastic, and the room was very clean and comfortable. I had a great stay, and the location is great too, just steps from the U Bahn.

The room was small but enough for me, since I only needed it to sleep. There’s no daily housekeeping, though you can request it when you need it. For the price, having air-conditioning was a fantastic bonus. Check-in was easy, and the location suited me well in the heart of the gay district, near pubs and public transport. Staff were always happy to answer questions.
