Hotel Potsdamer Hof

This is a budget hotel, so it's not a luxury place. If that's what you're after, Marriott or Hyatt are about a mile away. Some reviews seem to judge it as a luxury venue, which doesn't fit. The hotel is in an older part of Berlin, but the main sights are within 1-2 miles. That suited my wife and me perfectly. Parking is on the street, and the hotel gives you a dashboard pass that makes it free. We booked a large family three-bed room for the extra space, and it worked fine. It had a twin and a queen bed, a desk, and a freestanding dresser. The bathroom was a typical European size, clean, and had good water pressure. There was a cooler on the floor with water, soda, and beer at reasonable prices on an honor system. Our room faced Potsdamer St and was noisy, but that didn't bother us since we spent most of our time sightseeing. Breakfast was a typical continental spread, with a good range of meats, dairy, and bread. The staff were courteous and helpful. At 75 Euros a night, we were happy with it. If you want a clean hotel near the sights, it works. If you're looking for luxury and willing to pay more, choose somewhere else.

The bus makes this place easy to reach from Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Our room was fairly spacious and simple. Breakfast was served in the morning and was decent. I couldn't connect to the advertised Wi-Fi, and there was no mini-fridge.

The price was low and breakfast was okay. The entrance was hard to spot because it's inside an ordinary building and wasn't clearly marked. There are bus and metro stops near the hotel, and Potsdamer Platz is nearby too.

Getting inside was tricky because reception wasn't staffed. The price was low, though, and breakfast was nice.
