Mark Apart Hotel

The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the location was ideal. But the layout wasn’t as convenient as I’d expected. In both rooms I stayed in, you could only get to the bed from the edge, which wasn’t practical. On my last night, the chiller was so noisy that I told the staff, and they offered to move me without me having to ask. In the second room, water pipes made a loud sound whenever anyone used a tap. I had a terrible night before giving a conference talk the next day. I wouldn’t recommend this place if convenience and quiet matter to you.

Most of the staff were nice, but a few were rude and made the stay worse. Our room was dirty, with hair on the floor and bed, and it was pretty loud outside. The TV was broken, the sheets had holes, and for four people there was just one small bathroom trash can. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a clean room or a proper shower.

The staff were very nice and helpful, and the room was huge, clean and tidy. It had two bathrooms for two people, plus a large balcony to sit on. The balcony was very old and looked bad, though. The bed was big too. I’m not sure the sheets were changed at all while we were there, and that’s about my only other complaint. Keep your money and valuables in the safe deposit at reception. For a budget stay, I’d definitely recommend it.

We spent two nights here, 20-21 December 2019, for the Berlin Christmas Markets, and were happy with every part of the stay. The hotel was quiet, clean throughout, and near plenty of restaurants and a main supermarket. The Christmas Markets were an easy walk away. My room was spacious and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knew a lot about places to visit in Berlin. I’d highly recommend the hotel and would absolutely stay again.
