The breakfast was fantastic, and the owner is a very nice lady who serves it. The location works well for the zoo, though many other sights are still fairly far away. The apartment itself has an old-school, basically 1970s, pre-wall Berlin feel, and the beds aren’t comfortable. Getting in and out takes multiple sets of keys and is complicated. The owner is pleasant, but very conscious of heating and electricity costs, which you shouldn’t have to worry about when the place really isn’t cheap. It’s not a hotel, so make sure you understand that before booking. If you’re after an interesting stay in the heart of Berlin that reminds you of life before the Wall came down, it might be up your alley.

The breakfast was a generous buffet shared with the other guests, and we really enjoyed it. We had the modern room, which felt spacious, with a big bathroom and its own tub for unwinding in the evening. The hotel is right in central Berlin, and the host was lovely. We'd absolutely recommend it for a Berlin trip.

Sabine made a real effort to make my visit pleasant and was very accommodating. The hotel itself was comfortable and full of charm and character, with a delicious breakfast too. It was a wonderful change from Berlin's busyness. I'd highly recommend staying here.
