Residenz Villa Kult

Residenz Villa Kult has an intimate, personal feel, with warm hospitality and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s in a historic villa, and the individually decorated rooms have plenty of character and antique furnishings. Breakfast is homemade and delicious. The Botanical Garden is easy to reach, and public transport connects the slightly out-of-center location to the rest of the city. A good fit for travelers looking for a distinctive Berlin stay away from the city bustle.

A really charming place, with so much care put into the little details.

It’s a quirky, fun place, full of different styles, and the rooms have gorgeous antiques. I liked the continental breakfast and the homemade jams. The two things that needed more attention were our scratchy, old bath towels and the tea tray, which wasn’t fully stocked and was tucked away on the floor of the closet. With those fixed, our stay would’ve been perfect. We’d stay again.

The setting is quiet, with a big front garden between the villa and the street. This is a small boutique hotel, with six rooms and a penthouse, in a lovingly restored 19th-century villa. It’s outside the center but easy to reach by bus, including a direct route from the main station, or by S-Bahn from Lichterfelde Sued, which works better if you’re coming from the airport. Inside, there’s great artwork throughout, splendid rooms, and a wonderful breakfast made individually by the excellent chef. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I’ve been coming to Berlin regularly since the late 1980s, and this is easily the nicest place I’ve stayed in the capital. Highly recommended.
