John & Will Silo-Hotel by Guldsmeden

The design is stylish and unusual, and lots of useful places are an easy walk away. The staff were friendly and cool. During my business trip there was no WiFi anywhere in the hotel, which was quite uncomfortable. There wasn't a TV either, which would have been fine if the WiFi had worked.

The lobby has a great feel to it, with creative design and plenty of nice spaces, and it overlooks the water. The staff were outstanding, greeting us warmly and helping with every concern. The rooms are basic and the bathrooms were very clean and tidy, but the silo layout leaves very little room to move around. The double beds are cozy for one person or a couple who like to spoon, though less suitable if you each want some space. The bathrooms are very small, too. The bed itself was comfortable, but the linens had a low thread count. One thing to know is that there is no maid service. The website mentions this, but the in-room welcome information doesn't. We didn't get fresh towels each day, and there wasn't enough room to hang the damp ones, so they were just as wet when we got back. Breakfast was a mixed bag. The German buffet is available, but I found the choices extremely limited and the quality low. There's also an a la carte menu I didn't try. Others said the food was good, though expensive. The coffee machine was great. The location has pluses and minuses. Tram #3 stops nearby and goes straight into town, and you can buy tickets on the tram or use your Deutschland ticket. There's a large building next door with dining options and another restaurant around the corner, but otherwise the area feels out of the way right now. Construction is moving quickly, so I imagine it may look much better in a year or so. We also loved the hotel's vibe when we first arrived. As an older traveler, I'd say it could be a fantastic choice if you're young, flexible, and don't eat much breakfast.

The shower head was great, and the place worked well for our family with small kids. We could rent a cargo bike and take two little ones around the city. Parking cost 10 euro per night, and breakfast was good value for the money, with a continental style. Everything was perfect.

The staff and accommodation were great 😃 It's a fantastic, different place to stay, though the location isn't the best. We had to take a tram or taxi to get to the shopping centre or tourist areas, and there were very few places to eat nearby.
