Kloster Maria Hilf

This is the historic Mother House of a religious congregation of Sisters, with school grounds and a cemetery. It now also offers a hotel and hospitality.

The Kloster has a lovely atmosphere, and it’s a quiet place with comfortable rooms. Breakfast could be much better, though. I stayed five days. On the first morning I got there at 7:30 when they opened and saw the full selection. On the following days, arriving around 8:30, the fresh bread and much of the cold cuts were already gone, and nothing was replenished. I had to ask, and got unfriendly looks for doing so. We paid an extra 20 each day for breakfast, so it would have been nice to have more fruit too. There were only apples, even though it was summer and there was plenty of other fruit around. I’m sharing this to help you improve, not to criticize. Thanks.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and the room was just perfect in its calm setting. We’ll certainly stay here again when we travel to the region.

I loved the plentiful breakfast and the beautiful monastery gardens. Staff are really welcoming, and you can order lunch and dinner in advance, though it’s best to check the serving times beforehand. The building is special, and would be wonderful for a meditation retreat or as a base for visiting Baden-Baden. Rooms are simple and the bathroom is shared, but the value for money is unmatched.
