Right in the city center, so it’s easy to find. The traditional, cozy interior suits the local, authentic food. There are lots of meat dishes, while the vegetarian choice is limited to Käsespätzle and baked potatoes. You can ask about a vegan option as well.

The food wasn’t that good, and the whole visit was a bad experience. We waited 40 minutes for our meals, then the server told me the ravioli contained pork. When it arrived, it was cheese ravioli, which I couldn’t eat because I’m lactose intolerant. We asked for another dish and waited 30 minutes for that, then another 30 minutes for the check.

Dinkelsbühl itself is beautiful, and my complaint is about this place. I won’t return, and I’d advise others to stay elsewhere. There are about 10 other hotels I know of within a 2 km radius, so choose carefully. When I arrived, there was nobody at reception. A note on the door told me to call, but I’m from Canada and couldn’t call the number. A German guest who arrived 20 minutes after me happened to help. The hotel had said nothing when I booked about needing to call or what to do on arrival. My room smelled bad and was moldy. After they changed my checkout time at the last minute, I was rushed out. I also noticed black mold and emailed to ask whether the tap water was safe to drink, since there were no employees around until two days later. They took nearly 72 hours to reply, saying they were fully booked and sorry. I felt they clearly didn’t care about their customers or service. I’d avoid the place unless you want to be completely let down, or get sick.

We only stopped in for lunch, and the menu isn’t huge, but the food quality was excellent. Everything was freshly made. That was one of the best pork cordon bleus I’ve had, and the kids loved their food too. We’ll be back.

We chose to sit inside on a warm summer evening to get away from the cigarette smell outside, where most people were sitting. The Fränkische Schnitzel with bacon and Obatzda cheese came with fries and was juicy, tasty, and super delicious. The Wasseralfinger beer was very good too, and even cheaper than the soft drinks. Friendly service and a very good dinner.
