It gets very busy, so service was a little slow, but the food was good and it’s a nice place. For beer lovers, this is one of the better spots in the heart of town, with tasty weissbeir and a really nice dunkel, or dark lager. Much better than the Weibs brewery around the corner.

We’ve stayed at the Altstadtmitte Hotel, connected to The Sonne, twice now. The family room was very quiet, with AC, a good shower, and comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent and included, and the staff were super lovely. We ate dinner at the Sonne several times too, and its Frankonian soul food was top-notch and reasonably priced.

I had a lovely bowl of pumpkin soup and some unusual but tasty meat-filled ravioli, and enjoyed my meal. My husband ordered the pork schnitzel, which looked beautiful, though he said it was overcooked. Some items are shared with their El Paso location. I was curious, but decided not to push my luck.

From the outside, the hotel looks like it dates to the 1500s and is very well kept, while indoors it’s thoroughly modern. It’s right in central Dinkelsbühl, about 100 m from St. George. The rooms are clean, modern, and spacious, and the beds were great. Staff were kind and helpful, and we’d stay again. There are two restaurants, El Paso for Mexican food and the Gasthof restaurant for local dishes. El Paso seemed to attract more locals, but I preferred the local fare. A great find in a lovely place.

Right in the center of town, with clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was good, and the room price was decent. We left a blouse behind, and the hotel kindly sent it to us. Very nice, and I can definitely recommend it.
