ibis Dortmund City

It was quiet inside, and everything was clean and up to expectations. The hotel was easy to find, and parking was straightforward. The marked spaces were full, but the receptionist kindly gave me a permit to put in the window for the neighboring bay. The website wouldn’t let us book the same room because our 5y old counted as an extra person. They offered a discount on the extra room, which made up for the inconvenience. We had a good stay, and I’d use the hotel again if I’m in the Dortmund area.

We were warmly welcomed, and getting into our room early was no problem. The location worked well for our event at the IHK.

The room was modern and practical, and we didn’t hear anything from the other rooms, so the soundproofing seemed good. The pillow was too flat for me, but there was a spare one in the room, and using two worked fine. The bathroom was practical too, though I’d have liked a separate hand towel instead of only two rather small bath towels. I don’t want to dry my face with the same towel someone else used for their hands. The toilet flush was the one thing that would put me off staying here again when I’m sharing a room. It’s so loud that flushing at night would wake the other person immediately. The location was convenient for us, with three supermarkets nearby, so it was easy to get whatever we needed.

For the price, I’d choose this place again if I’m back in the area. The staff were friendly, and with the window shut the room was quiet. It was quite small but very clean. There’s no wardrobe, only shelves, though you can manage for 2-3 nights. I asked for twin beds, but the two beds had been pushed together. We had to move the furniture ourselves to set the room up as a twin.
