ibis Dortmund West

For a short stay, this is a very good option. Ibis is a recognized business hotel chain, so the quality and service are fairly consistent. We arrived late at night with work colleagues, and the receptionist was especially kind to us. The bed was nice and the shower was amazing. The towel was a little old and could be better. I liked the lighting too, with warm light in the room and cool light in the toilet. They sell some snacks, breakfast costs 14€, and parking is available.

The breakfast was poor, though the staff were somewhat nice. This will be my last stay at an Ibis. The rooms were already poor, with smells of mold and nasty perfume. I complained about one and they changed it; the second was, let’s say, okay-ish, but changing rooms seemed like a hassle and I was close to changing hotels. The cleaning staff ignored the Do not disturb sign and made a lot of noise while cleaning, dragging beds and chairs and slamming doors. Just awful.

This was a stop on my way from the ferry terminal in Saint Malo before driving into Poland. I was there for two nights in summer 2019. The rooms were nice and clean, and the hotel was very quiet while I stayed. It was full of guests, but seemed to be mostly travelers from the nearby motorBahn getting a decent night’s sleep before continuing their journeys. My German has got very bad since I left school so many years ago, but I could communicate with the staff easily in English. Breakfast was available. Thank you.

Everything was clean, and the reception staff were friendly. The equipment is a little dated, but it’s still in good condition and works. The shower and bathtub felt too small for me in both width and height. I’m 190cm and 100kg. I’d recommend the place.
