Radisson Blu Hotel Dortmund

The views were good, breakfast was great, and the pool and saunas were nice. The gym was alright, and the hotel worked well for a few days of both work and leisure. Parking and charging cost a lot, though they were good. Service was a bit uncertain, with some check-in mix-ups and confused, busy housekeeping, but those issues were easy to sort out.

The spa and wellness area was pleasant and well kept, and breakfast was good and organized. Families may also appreciate the kid-friendly atmosphere. Still, the payment policy overshadowed all of that: the hotel only accepts cards, with no cash option anywhere. I found that restrictive and stressful, and the staff's insistence on card-only payment felt ignorant of guests' comfort and freedom. It comes across as cost-cutting, perhaps because the Radisson group wants to avoid cash-handling expenses, or as an effort to promote questionable “cashless/Agenda 2030” style policies. Whatever the reason, guests should have a choice. Until the policy changes, I can't fully recommend the hotel.

Everything else is fine, but the WiFi is hilariously slow, 5 down and 5 up. It feels almost fascinating, like stepping back in time. With any cellphone getting 300+ Mbits these days, it hardly matters anymore :)

The fitness area is huge, with modern equipment, and the breakfast has an excellent, varied selection. I came in without high expectations, but the rooms turned out clean, spacious, and fairly modern. Reception staff were friendly and competent. All in all, a great hotel, highly recommended!
