Hampton By Hilton Dresden City Centre

The breakfast was good and the food and drink stations stayed stocked and clean, but it was so crowded that finding a seat was hard and most stations had queues. It may take longer than a typical breakfast. Our room, though, was quiet, clean, and nicely decorated with a local theme. The bed was comfortable, the shower got hot, and there was a kettle with free tea and coffee. We'd booked five months ahead for our Christmas market trip by train, using 40,000 Hilton points, about $250USD, for a standard Queen room. The hotel felt new and modern. It was a 15/20-minute walk from the main train station and a quick 5/10-minute walk to Altmarkt and the main market. We arrived early and couldn't check in, but they stored our bags for free. The staff were upbeat and very friendly, dressed for the holidays, and the lobby and dining area had lovely festive decorations. It's well placed if you're happy walking, though it feels at the edge of town, with not much right nearby. We really enjoyed our stay.

We visited in March and liked the location. The front desk staff were friendly, and breakfast was okay, but it was too crowded without separate time slots to spread people out. Housekeeping was the real problem. In our triple room, a towel was missing every day and we had to ask for one each time. The bathroom smelled of urine and still had hair from previous guests. The shampoo and soap dispensers were empty, and the sanitary bin hadn't been emptied during cleanup. That level of housekeeping isn't acceptable at any hotel, especially a Hilton.

The staff were helpful and really friendly, and breakfast had a good range of food in a clean dining area. The room was simple but clean and comfortable, with air conditioning that worked but wasn't very strong. The hotel is wheelchair accessible. Parking was tricky for us because we needed an accessible space. There was only one in the underground garage, and a car without a disability permit was using it. The location is very walkable, and there's a great Greek restaurant just a few steps outside. There was a lot of construction around the hotel, so the GPS route to the garage didn't work; we had to follow the detour signs. We still had an enjoyable stay.

We stayed for just one day last November, and I was very pleased with the visit. I had made a request before arriving, and the staff took care of it fully. They were polite and helpful throughout. The hotel is near the old town center, so we walked to many attractions. Bus and tram stops are also very close. The place was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from. If we return to Dresden, we'll choose it again. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the staff!
