B&B HOTEL Duisburg Hbf-Nord

The area around the railway station felt rather rough, though there’s a police station next door and plenty of restaurants nearby. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived: used towels were in the bathroom, the bed hadn’t been made, and someone’s belongings, including headphones, were still on the desk. It looked as if the room might still be occupied. There were no other rooms available. The receptionist was polite and tried to help by cleaning it himself while we waited, but the situation left me unsure whether it had been properly cleaned or sanitized. We stayed because we had no alternative, but the room should have been ready for guests. I expected better quality control from the hotel.

Lisa at reception helped sort out a payment issue for me. I had paid Hotels.com in full, but they hadn’t paid B&B hotel, so I asked Hotels.com customer service in Taiwan to call. Lisa was a great help in resolving it, and I’m very grateful to her. I felt safe as a woman traveling alone, slept well for all three days, and found the room clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly too.

I missed breakfast because nobody told me the weekend hours were different. Later, a group kept running up and down the hallway, shouting and banging doors well after 10 pm. I lost three hours of sleep, and the house rules weren’t consistently enforced. The hotel is right by the central station, which is handy for exploring the area or just sleeping before moving on. It’s cheap but decent quality, with a modern, understated look. I also liked being able to use keycards.

Being close to the train station and Christmas Market was a nice bonus, and the price was good value. The room was good, and I was very pleased with my stay. Service was excellent, especially from the front-desk attendants.
