Dusseldorf City by Tulip Inn

The bed was clean and comfortable, and I didn’t hear noise from inside the hotel. The location is good and the price was okay. There’s no air conditioning, and only one window opens, which wasn’t enough. With it open, it was much too loud. The bathroom is a little old, and the fridge is very weak. The room had what I needed, and I guess one night is okay. Drinks are available to buy from the fridge at reception.

The staff were friendly and check-in was easy, but the room was really dirty. There was mold throughout the bathroom and dust on the bedroom surfaces. It looks like the place was renovated some years ago, but poorly and with cheap materials. Things seemed like they were halfway falling apart. There were no power sockets beside the bed, and the free coffee hadn’t been restocked. Wi-Fi was slow and unreliable. The hotel is fairly near the main station and some attractive areas, though the location itself is nothing fancy. We paid 78 for the cheapest room in the off-season. It wasn’t a premium price, but it still didn’t feel worth it.

We arrived at 2:30 PM to find the windows wide open in -3°C weather. The room felt freezing, there was no heating, and the floor was too cold to stand on barefoot. The bathtub was filthy, the lamp was broken, and the bed had a flimsy summer blanket that wasn’t fit for winter. We waited for hours, but the room never warmed up. I asked reception for extra blankets. The staff member was rude and questioned me before saying they’d bring some up. After waiting 40 minutes and going back twice, I finally got them more than an hour later. The bathroom was too grimy to shower in, and the whole place felt neglected. The staff seemed not to care. This was a horrible stay from beginning to end, just survival mode, and the worst experience of my life. Never again.

The rooms were awful and missing so much: no safe, fridge, phone to call reception, iron or ironing board, or welcome water bottles. On my first night, I was given a key, went upstairs, and found someone already in the room. The next day breakfast wasn’t ready at 7 as it should have been because the service team arrived late and hadn’t prepared it. All the guests had to wait at least 30 minutes. A horrible hotel, not worth the money or a penny.
