Rheingoldhotel

The beds were comfy, the bathroom was clean, and the furniture was new. We paid €60 a night, and while the place wasn’t superb, it was better than I expected. Nothing fancy, but decent. The city center is about a 10-15 minute walk. The receptionist didn’t speak much English, and there could’ve been more city leaflets at reception.

The lobby was really messy, and the staff didn’t behave professionally. The room was clean but not well equipped, for example, there wasn’t enough shampoo in the bathroom. I didn’t like the hotel overall.

None of the three rooms we’d booked for two people each were available when we arrived, even though we’d called four weeks earlier. The person who took the booking had assured us that giving our last name was enough. The woman at reception offered us two suites or four rooms, but didn’t apologize and kept demanding that we choose right away. Very poor customer service. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

The single room was very old-fashioned and hadn’t been cleaned well. Sound carries easily through the walls. The hotel is conveniently close to both the city center and the main train station.
