Am Schloßberg

We nearly skipped booking because the website and photos didn’t make the place look very appealing. Glad we went ahead: the hotel was exceptionally well kept, and the rooms, furniture, and service were all excellent. The breakfast was delicious and had lots of variety. We only stayed one night, but we’ll definitely return.

The breakfast was really good and had plenty to choose from. The bathrooms are roomy, with great showers, and the rooms themselves are amazing, especially the woodwork and unusual lighting. Check-in went smoothly, and the front desk was very helpful. There’s also a great Italian Restaurant in the same building, with huge pizzas!

The hotel was clean, but uncomfortably hot. My two stars are for the service. I’d paid for breakfast but don’t eat it, so I sat on the terrace with a coffee. At 10:08, after breakfast had ended at 10, I went inside for some water and found it had disappeared. When I asked for water, I was told breakfast was over and to get it from reception. They then told me to buy it for 7 euros! Seven euros for water when it was over 30 degrees outside and I was staying at the hotel. I shouldn’t have had to beg for it. Maybe the attitude would have been different if I were German, but a client is a client.

The location isn’t ideal, and Therme Erding, the main attraction, is about 3 km away, so you’ll need to drive or take the bus. There aren’t many parking spaces, and the front entrance and elevator close at night. The service was friendly and helpful, though, and the clean, quiet rooms are well kept and have nice amenities. Seems great for families or couples.
