The staff were really nice and friendly, and I liked the room layout. But Novotel Erlangen feels stuck with Novotel's very old design, and the interior needs updating. The room itself needs an upgrade too. I don't like carpets, especially old ones that have clearly seen too many guests. The little kitchenette wasn't something I expected, and it doesn't feel modern to me. The bathroom was fully tiled, and two of the supposedly fresh towels had disgusting stains. There was no separate shower, just the old-fashioned one over the bathtub. Irons and ironing boards weren't in the rooms; there was just one ironing room on the fourth floor. The board there needs replacing, because ironing was no fun. If you're collecting Accor points, this is your only option in Erlangen. Otherwise, I'd stay somewhere else and come back after a renovation.

The breakfast was quite good for the room price, and we compared it with the one at Novotel Hamburg central station. The location is about a 15-minute walk from the Schloss garden and old town, beside the university hostel, a Catholic Church, and a gas station. Our standard room was spacious, though the bathroom was rather small. We couldn't get a membership room upgrade, so they gave us a coffee and tea voucher instead. They also took the time to draw the card and brought sparkling water. There was no refrigerator in the room.

I had a great stay at Novotel and would choose it again and recommend it to colleagues and friends. The reception handled a registration issue with breakfast over two days responsibly, and got it resolved.

The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and good quality food. For the price, though, we expected more from the room and bathroom, which both felt a bit dated and small.

10/10
We slept really well in the comfortable, well-equipped rooms, and breakfast was fantastic with lots of options. Check-in was quick and easy, and the reception staff were friendly and professional. Novotel Erlangen was easy to find, with a great location and plenty of parking. There's a petrol station across the street where we filled up before continuing our journey. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend it.
