TM Apart Hotel Essen

We work in hotels ourselves, so we know what to expect, and for the price this place was fantastic. Our room felt cozy and looked newly renovated, with its own door straight out to the garden. I don't get all the negative reviews. We did lock ourselves out once and had to call the main reception. They sorted it out within a few minutes. The reception not being staffed around the clock didn't bother me either. It seems to be the general trend, and travelers may just have to get used to it.

We stayed for nine nights in mid-October. There was no heating for the whole stay, and we went without hot water for two days. Nobody from the hotel came to speak to us or offered anything. For three days, maintenance staff seemed to be coming into the room every half hour to check the heating. We had no privacy.

The garden in the pictures wasn't open to guests, and the beds were awful. I could feel the mattress springs digging into my back. A bedside light was dangling from the wall by its wire, which felt really dangerous. The staff were unfriendly too. Cheapest place I've ever stayed, and even at that price it was too much. Worst hotel I've been to!

I called after getting a rude email about a room key we'd forgotten to return. I explained that I hadn't seen their message for 24 hours because Booking.com notifications were turned off, but the person on the phone didn't listen and just kept throwing accusations and excuses at me. One other thing from our stay: around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, we were heading out when the police took someone away for being very drunk and causing a disturbance. All in all, a dreadful place. I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to spoil your trip, go ahead and book here.
