B&B Hotel Frankfurt City-Ost

**Below expectations** The bed was relatively new and comfortable, and breakfast was sufficient. The rest of my stay at B&B Hotel Frankfurt City-Ost on a short-notice business trip during a trade fair was disappointing. I checked in around 6:30 PM to room 622, where the bathroom smelled strongly of cigarette smoke despite the hotel's claim that all rooms are non-smoking. I reported it soon after arrival, but the hotel was full and reception said they couldn't change rooms. They said the janitor would check the next day. While I was out, the janitor adjusted the ventilation to 21°C, but that did nothing to fix the smell, and no compensation was offered. Cleanliness was mediocre. There were hairs that weren't mine, the sink and toilet hadn't been properly cleaned, and the carpet looked like it hadn't been deep-cleaned in a long time. The blackout curtains didn't block the light effectively either. *Note: I retouched the room code on the attached photos so the hotel can continue using this code.*

The reception staff I spoke with were friendly and helpful with my questions. The location is right across from Ostbahnhof, but it wasn't especially noisy. Rooms are quite small, as expected, but adequately clean. For a short stay, I’d recommend it. My only complaints are that there were no slippers in the room and no proper chair to go with the small desk.

The room was small, as expected for a cheaper hotel, but the place felt gross and I wouldn’t recommend it. It looked clean at first, but there were cobwebs in almost every corner, including one with an actual spider, and we found a carpet beetle by the door. Hairs on one bed made us wonder if the bedding was clean. There were also hairs on the bathroom floor and table. The back of the toilet had drips on it, and we wondered if they were urine.

**Extreme caution for late arrivals** We arrived at 11 PM and got stuck because our agent, Clarity, had left out the booking reference. We tried every phone number we could find for the hotel, on its website and elsewhere online, but none worked. B&B Hotels says its hotel phone numbers provide 24/7 personalized attention, yet we had no way to sort out a simple booking problem. It was a logistical nightmare, and if you can't check in before 10 PM, I wouldn't risk staying here. B&B Hotels needs to update its systems urgently and provide a working, reliable emergency line so other guests aren't left on the street. The rooms are tiny and have no functional workspace. This might do for a basic one-night stay, but only for people with no work needs, and, more importantly, arriving in daylight.
