Scala Frankfurt City Hotel

The front desk wouldn’t move me to another room. They said I’d booked a “cheap room” and that this was the best option for me. I know a budget room can be simple, but soap, towels, and basic cleanliness should still be standard. Based on this stay, I can’t recommend the place. When I checked in, the toilet was visibly dirty, there was no soap or towels, and I found hair on the bed linen. The shower cubicle was so tiny it was barely comfortable for one person to use. It was a very disappointing experience.

The room was a letdown. The carpet was badly stained, the bathroom door had a hole in it, and there was no way to adjust the heating. The worst part was the noise: we could hear people on the stairs, opening doors, and talking as if they were in our room. Even a neighbor using a tap or toilet made a horrible hissing sound in ours. The location is very central, around a five-minute walk from the nearest train stop. Breakfast was decent enough, and there were vegan options too.

After I asked to change rooms, management kept the amount from my original booking and charged a higher price for the second reservation. They also refused to refund the first payment. I wouldn’t recommend the breakfast buffet either, it’s really just ordinary.

I had a great stay on my first trip to Germany. After arriving in Frankfurt, I found the hotel convenient, with a cozy room and a front desk team that was really friendly and helpful. It’s a good place, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the Frankfurt area.
