The rooms look dated, and it’s a real hassle getting the shower and tap water to the right temperature. It’s either too hot or too cold. The gym is hopeless, with no water available for people to drink. Every other hotel gym I’ve used has at least a water point. I had to go seven floors down to my room for a drink and then come back up. So inconvenient.

The location is the only thing keeping this dated museum going. Anywhere else, I think it would have closed down long ago. Sad, really. The rooms are like museum exhibits you can live in, stuck in the 80s and untouched by technology. There isn’t a single USB port or universal plug. Staff are friendly, but in the restaurant they can get aggressive, taking your plate away before you’re finished, especially if you’re alone. The menu feels like a piece of history too, heavy, uninspired, out of touch, and unappealing. I definitely wouldn’t come back for the food. P.S. I found one piece of mint on the nightstand. There was nothing else in the room besides soap and towels.

After staying in many hotels around here over the years as airline crew, I’d say this is one of the area’s most underrated. The rooms are among the largest I’ve seen, relatively new, and very comfortable. A few small updates could make a real difference. The grey tiles could use a refresh, and carpets in selected areas might help. More greenery, like trees in the lobby, plus mood lighting and artwork could make the place feel warmer. Moving the bar to the lobby and using its current space for lunch service might also improve the guest experience. With changes like these, I think the hotel could earn even better reviews, increase occupancy, and become one of the best in the area. Wishing you all the best. Regards, Mitre

The rooms are big, the beds quite soft and comfy, and security is good. You need a key card to reach your floor, so non-guests can’t get up there. The service is atrocious. No one answers when you call the front desk. The shower won’t stay hot, and the temperature keeps shifting. There are no switches near the bed to charge your phone, and they won’t provide adaptors if you’ve forgotten one. The WiFi keeps connecting and disconnecting. It only seems to work if you stand still in one spot, and even then it’s a gamble. The rooms are pretty basic. I booked mainly because of the walkway to the fairground, but it’s closed off, so you have to go outside to get in. In my opinion, there are better places to stay at a more reasonable price. The Maritim is overpriced hype and not worth it.

We’ve stayed here several times and it’s easy to park the car. The pool and sauna are nice. I just wish they served fresh orange juice with the otherwise excellent breakfast buffet.
