The owners made us feel welcome right away, with such warmth and friendliness. You don’t come across that kind of hospitality every day. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, and everything felt comfortable from the start. The hotel is in a beautiful spot, with lots of hiking and excursion options nearby. There’s a big garden with plenty of room for the dogs, and our room was comfortable and clean. Thank you to the owners for making our time so lovely. Keep up the great work!

I spent three nights at the Falkenau Guesthouse in Frauenau with my three dogs and felt very comfortable overall. If you’re after a relaxed, welcoming holiday with your dog or dogs and don’t need luxury or fuss, this is a great value place to stay. The location is peaceful, at the edge of town on a hillside, at the end of a cul-de-sac. Our balcony had a fantastic view of the valley, and there’s plenty of parking. The large, beautifully landscaped garden is fully fenced and a real highlight for dogs. It has a pond, a stream of its own, some agility equipment, poop bags, and lighting at night. Dog beds, bowls, and towels are provided, though not dog food. Even with lots of dogs around, it stays pleasantly quiet. There are lovely dog-friendly trails nearby, too. The hotel, restaurant, and rooms were all very clean, and the cleaning staff were exceptionally friendly. The rooms are rustic and simply furnished, with modern bathrooms. Everything essential is there, though our double room felt a bit small for three dogs. There’s a coffee machine and cold drinks for self-service in the lounge around the clock, and you can keep track of payment on a tally sheet. The restaurant is modern and attractively done, with a conservatory and terrace. Dinner was delicious. In the evenings there are usually two main courses, one of them vegetarian, while starters and desserts are available for an extra charge. There’s no dinner on Sundays, which is clearly stated on the website and, of course, isn’t charged. The breakfast buffet was good and sufficient. I’d have loved a few more choices, such as scrambled or fried eggs, pancakes, or fresh fruit salad. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant. Downstairs there’s a small, elegant wellness area with a sauna, infrared cabin, loungers, a shower, and massage services. The hosts are especially warm and welcoming. There’s a family atmosphere, with pleasant chats among the hosts and guests. Many visitors return, which says a lot about the guesthouse, and it’s impressive what the small team manages to do.
