Premier Inn Freiburg City Süd Hotel

The hotel is pretty close to the Altstadt, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The standout for me was the staff: everyone was helpful and friendly, and most, if not all, spoke English and German. My first floor room faced the tracks, but the soundproofing was so good I couldn’t hear or feel the trains passing. The hotel itself is standard, and the food was just okay, nothing special. At the restaurant, I ordered soup and pizza, but the server brought the pizza first and the soup a few moments later. That had never happened to me before. Still, I’d recommend the hotel to travelers.

The rooms were nice, though a little small. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating. They let me leave my bag when I arrived early, and a guy at reception offered to switch my room after I asked for a double bed. He was nice. One front desk staff member who checked me out had an unpleasant attitude during my interactions with him, and I’m not sure why. Breakfast was disappointing, with rubbery eggs that seemed like they might have come from pre-prepared mix. Premier Inn’s policy charges €20 for early check-in, even when a room is available and check-in is less than two hours away. For the price, it wasn’t as good a value as Citadines, especially on peak dates. This was my first Premier Inn stay, and the corporate policies leave me hesitant to try another. They felt designed to drive profit instead of considering the guest experience. If that doesn’t bother you, you may enjoy this branch, since my other negative points weren’t necessarily specific to it, apart from the one staff member.

Kaan and his team made my first visit to Freiburg a very pleasant one. The rooms and lounge were clean, and the hotel is conveniently close to the railway and bus lines. I especially appreciated Manager Kaan’s attention to detail and the genuine care he showed for guests’ comfort. He and his team went beyond what I expected, helping me find my way around and make the most of my sightseeing. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay. I hope to visit again.

We were put off by some of the harsh reviews we read after booking, which we probably should have read beforehand. But we didn’t run into any of those problems and were surprised by how good the hotel was. The staff were polite and helpful, the room was neat, very clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was really good. It’s a short walk to the city center, which we already knew when we booked. We couldn’t find anything to complain about and would happily recommend it.
