I still remember this visit, even now that I'm back from Germany. While in Frankfurt, specifically Gelnhausen, I came across Hotel Am Palais. It didn't look like much from the outside, but the parking area led to an unexpected sight: strong Indonesian cultural touches, with wooden gebyok ornaments, tables and decorations all in Indonesian style. The food was Indonesian too. We met the owner, Mr. Werner, and had a warm chat. Being so far from Indonesia, that feeling of warmth made the experience unforgettable. Thank's

The guest rooms are modern and very comfortable, while the shared areas are filled with ornate, classic pieces. The hotel has an unusual character, with beautiful Indonesian sculptures and woodwork throughout, and the craftsmanship is truly impressive. It isn't close to much in the way of central attractions, but the experience of staying there is worth it on its own.

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. The Balinese-style decor gives the outside, reception and breakfast room a nice setting, though the rooms themselves aren't anything special. The bathroom especially needs a makeover, with quite a few dark spots in the shower. Staff followed the Corona rules, but people without masks were still allowed in reception, the breakfast room and even the buffet area.

The bed was super comfortable and the place was clean. The staff were very friendly, and the decor is amazing, especially once you hear the story behind it. I do wish the rooms had some of that great decor too.
