Breakfast was a real highlight, with lots to choose from and lovely views. After spending the day in the cold, we also loved relaxing in the spa, especially the saunas and comfortable lounge areas. The room itself was fine, but nothing in particular stood out.
The view from the hotel was a 10/10, and our room was clean, but the way the staff treated us left a bad mark on the whole stay. I wouldn't come back because of how they made us feel. Their manager and staff need to show more patience and empathy when dealing with guests. I hope management takes this seriously, especially since I may not be the first reviewer to mention it. We had a big balcony with an amazing view, but there was no fridge or kettle, and no tea or coffee supplies, so we couldn't even make a cup of tea in private. With the daily price and extra parking charge, basic amenities like these should be available. We called reception about a kettle and were told they didn't have one. Staff said they'd bring a pillow to our room, but after waiting six hours, we went and got it ourselves. We also told reception ourselves about a wine stain on the table and ceiling and asked them to take a look. In the end, I felt our honesty wasn't appreciated. The way staff handled things made the stay chaotic, and we were pushed to go down to the hotel instead of having privacy in our room.
The location right by the lake is hard to beat, and the rooms were spotless, though on the small side. You can choose Landhaus rooms facing the forest or courtyard, or Seehaus rooms with lake views. They include a pillow menu, but only one pillow comes as standard. I paid €140 in November, and given the value rating of 7/10, I found the overall value moderate. My ratings were 8.3/10 overall, with service 8/10, location 10/10, breakfast 7/10, cleanliness 10/10, room and facilities 8/10. The spa is a standout: two saunas, an ice room, lounge areas on several levels, and a water and tea station. It's thoughtfully arranged and very relaxing, though there was no “Aufguss.” Food was very good for non-vegan guests, with antipasti, quality main courses, several desserts, and a large cheese selection. The breakfast also had a generous spread and an impressive range of cheeses. But despite telling the hotel about my dietary needs well in advance, and on multiple occasions across several stays, the vegan options were still limited and didn't match what the website advertises. On the first morning there was soy latte on request, vegan cheese slices, and store-bought vegetable spreads. The next day they added a slice of chocolate cake. Lactose-free yogurt appeared only on the second day, but there were several dairy yogurts throughout, so a small bowl of plant-based yogurt would have been a more inclusive option. Homemade hummus, beetroot, or aubergine spreads would also improve the buffet. I understand these items may not be available every day, but when vegan guests are staying, the buffet should be adjusted so they feel welcome. Those options could suit many other guests too, including for dietary or religious reasons. Meals later in the day had similar problems. Even with advance notice, it took 24 hours, or three meal times, for the kitchen to consistently cater to vegan needs, making a third of the stay uncomfortable and complicated. On the first day, staff seemed surprised and pointed out vegetarian food as vegan. We asked them to check again and mentioned allergies, but dishes were still identified as vegan even though the allergen information at the buffet entrance listed milk. That can put guests with allergies or specific diets in an uncomfortable and potentially risky position. At the conference area, the first coffee break had no vegan option apart from the usual fruit basket. Staff said “no one told them about a vegan.” After I had raised it with management and reception for the fourth time during this stay, things improved for the remaining two thirds. The kitchen then made a vegan main dish whenever the buffet lacked one, and vegan options were added at the conference area. Still, I expect dietary needs to be handled from the beginning without repeated reminders. Some days, salads and side dishes weren't enough, and dessert was often only fruit salad. Vegan guests should reliably get a complete three-course dinner, especially with dinner costing €34/€39 and the hotel advertising itself as vegan-friendly. I'd also like clearer allergen labels on every buffet item. Side dishes and desserts had no labels. As a conference guest, I expect access to the coffee and tea station through the afternoon, but it's only available from around 2 p.m. and is switched off before then. Coffee break snacks are now just two options plus fruit, which falls short of comparable conference hotels and the hotel's own advertised selection.
We had a calm, relaxing stay in a comfortable, well-kept room. Hotel am Badersee is surrounded by nature, and the restaurant has a stunning view over the lake and mountains. It's also easy to catch a bus to Eibsee, making the hotel a handy base for exploring the area.
I was there for a business meeting and found the hotel clean and beautiful, with a lovely mountain view. The room was nice and the bed comfortable. As a vegetarian, I didn't find many snack options, but when I mentioned it, the staff made me vegetarian sandwiches. At lunch, they also prepared a sundae especially for me since there wasn't a vegetarian dessert. Thank you so much 💓
