Conrad Hamburg

The staff’s warmth made the stay special. They greeted us with genuine smiles whenever we passed by, and I felt a level of friendliness I haven’t found at other German hotels. A special thank you to the female staff member at the front desk, whose name I regret not getting. At checkout, she gave us water for the journey and, to our surprise, a stuffed toy for our unborn baby. It touched our hearts. My wife was genuinely happy on this trip, and I’m deeply grateful. P.S. where can I buy the mattresses and beddings? I’ve seen reviews saying this property isn’t up to Conrad standards yet, but I strongly disagree. It was the best hotel stay I’ve had in years. We came to Hamburg for a short "Babymoon" with my pregnant wife, and choosing this hotel was a great decision. The location was convenient and the room pristine, clearly recently renovated. Breakfast was wonderful, and the à la carte menu was so delicious we overate every morning. The wellness area, pool and sauna, seemed to have just opened and had minor teething issues, but was still enjoyable.

We were welcomed right away and the staff stayed genuinely attentive throughout. As a Gold member, I really appreciated the recognition and complimentary upgrade. The rooms are modern, clean, and luxurious. Greta Oto, the in-house restaurant, is pricey, but the menu’s quality and originality made it worthwhile. There was a little leftover water in the Nespresso machine, hardly something I’d complain about these days. We’ll definitely be back!

The central location is a real plus for anyone visiting Hamburg. The rooms are spacious, stylish, and elegant, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. The building is impressive, and we were warmly welcomed from the start. Reception was exceptionally friendly, and staff made a real effort to help us feel comfortable. In-room dining was excellent, with high quality food and a service team as attentive and friendly as the rest of the hotel. There were a couple of small drawbacks. Some staff speak only English, which may be a challenge for guests who prefer German. Also, for a hotel of this class, I’d expect TV programs in HD, but they weren’t, and the picture on the large television was noticeably poor. Even with those issues, I can highly recommend the hotel for its outstanding service, luxurious rooms, and central location.

The basics fell well short of what I expect from a Hilton. We've stayed at plenty of Conrads and Hiltons in Germany, and this was the worst of both for us. Staff seemed short-handed and undertrained, and used dishes sat by the sink for days. The mouthwash and Q-tips we used on the first day were never replenished. In the executive lounge, the limited food and drink were not restocked once they ran out. Arrive for breakfast after 9 and you could wait more than ten minutes just to make your own coffee. In our two-story room, getting a reasonably even temperature was a struggle: we tried setting the upstairs to AC and downstairs to heat at similar levels, but the thermostat was hard to work. The many room switches took experimenting to figure out, too. Showering was another hassle. The room got warmer, and the water temperature shifted a lot whenever someone else used water or flushed a toilet. There was some room noise, and there's still no pool or sauna.
