Hotel Hafen Hamburg

The hotel is split into different sections. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the center, and there’s paid parking at the hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy, with wooden cabinets, and the service was excellent and courteous.

The courtyard-facing rooms can be noisy at night, so I wouldn’t choose one of those. The hotel has historic and more modern wings, and you can specify which you want. Elsewhere, there are several bars, including an old-fashioned pub, and the tower bar rewards the climb with gorgeous city views. Nautical details fill the main public spaces, some impressive enough to make it feel like a little museum. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the restaurant opens very early, with a fantastic buffet of fresh food each morning. The views and service are hard to beat, and it’s a great base for exploring the historic port city. I’ll be back, and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Hamburg.

There’s a lot of history here, almost like the hotel itself is a museum. The rooms are modern, with up-to-date bathrooms and showers, and breakfast is about what you’d expect from a four-star place. Reperbahn and Aldis are only a few minutes away.

Megi at reception deserves a special mention. She was warm, kind, and professional, and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. That personal touch made returning even more enjoyable. This was my second stay at Hotel Hafen Hamburg, and I was happy with it again. The hotel has plenty of charm, an elegant feel, and a lovely harbor-side location with easy access to Hamburg attractions. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well designed for a relaxing stay.
