Hotel Residence am Hauptbahnhof

The room was clean, fresh towels arrived each day, and the man at the front desk helped carry our bags. But the hotel felt bleak and shabby, with cigarette smells and bad vibes. Breakfast was the cheapest possible food, and the elevator was terrifying. As three women sharing a triple room, we found the street unpleasant to arrive on or leave, with many men lingering and noise through the night. I wouldn't recommend this place to a female traveler. Staff entered our room twice without permission. After the first time we warned reception, and the second time we began to wonder whether it could really be an “accident.” Other reviews describe similar experiences. Don't stay here unless you absolutely have to. It felt like the hotel cared about making money, not giving guests a pleasant stay.

Breakfast came with the booking, but there was barely anything worth eating. The coffee was awful, and the bread smelled so strange I couldn't eat it. The hotel's general condition wasn't good either. I was really unhappy with the stay and wouldn't recommend it. It definitely wasn't worth the money.

The hotel was clean and functional, and the desk staff were friendly. It's a five-minute walk to the main railway station, with a supermarket and small grocery shops very close by. There isn't a lift, and the stairs are very steep, though reception can help. I wish there were a non-slip mat inside the shower.

The staff were nice, and the room was a little cold but okay. It's an acceptable cheap hotel, though the neighborhood felt a bit shady and the place itself was quite run down.
