ibis Hamburg Alsterring

The location was good and I eventually got a larger room, but only after complaining that they'd put me in a smaller, cheaper one than I had paid for. The rooms are old. On departure day, the cleaners tried to come in two hours early.

The staff were smart and kind, and the rooms were clean, quiet even on the street side, with a bathroom that had everything needed. The hotel is just around the corner from the S-bhan. It's four S-bahn stops from Hamburg Hbf, but takes less than 10 minutes to get there. That means you get the lower price of staying outside downtown without much effort getting to the hotel.

For my one-night stay, the room was just right: quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the bed was cozy. Everything worked well. Check-in went smoothly, and the staff were friendly and professional. It's well placed for public transport and the city centre. Exactly what I needed for a short visit, and I'd recommend it.

Getting there was easy by U-Bahn or S-Bahn, and the staff were fine. A few small problems took the shine off the stay: there was a noticeable carpet stain, and the nearly empty shower body wash hadn't been refilled. The room was very dim, neither bedside light worked, and the bathroom light sometimes flickered badly. It was an acceptable two-night stay, but for the price and a location that isn't especially central, I felt underwhelmed.
