ibis Hamburg City

I was there for 10 days and the staff were all very friendly. Osvaldo in particular was great at handling the bar, he's awesome. The hotel is nice and perfectly located. Wishing everyone a happy new year and the best of luck. I'll stay here again when I'm back in Hamburg.

Breakfast had everything I needed, and the room was clean and comfortable. Our window looked onto a neighboring office building, but closing the curtains made that a non-issue. The TV had plenty of German channels and a few in French and English. It's a lovely budget hotel for the money. If you aren't too picky and want an affordable, comfortable stay, it could leave you with great memories of Hamburg.

The only easy part was checking out, since I could just leave my card in an acrylic box. I wasn't given a receipt for the deductible on the room payment. At €19, breakfast wasn't justified: the scrambled eggs and beans were cold, the ham dry, the orange juice tasted like flavored water, the bacon was greasy and crumbly, and the croissants were cold. The room was dirty too. There was dust by the bed and behind the TV, hairs on the mattress, a dusty headboard, and dust-covered trash under the mattress, a lip balm and a black balloon. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed well. The room phone didn't work, even though it should have had a purpose. I checked in online but still had to wait for a room assignment, so I don't understand the point of online check-in. Paying with Accor points and a deductible doesn't make a room in poor condition acceptable. I've never had such a bad hotel experience, and I'll report it to Accor.

The room was clean apart from a few hairs, and the soundproofing was alright, but I don't recommend this place. Staff were rude and cold toward us. Three hours before I left, a cleaner came into the room despite the do not disturb sign while we were still asleep and lightly clothed. I felt vulnerable. There was no kettle, so we had to spend 12 euros for tea twice. It's overpriced and difficult to get to.
