Park-Hotel Hagenbeck

The staff were very friendly, breakfast was really good, and our room was super clean. I liked the animal-themed decor and found the room and surroundings cool and inspiring. The location was great, just a few steps from Uban (metro). The only problem was black grime in the shower corner that needed cleaning with detergent. Also, the minibar is free only if you don't want room service.

After checkout, I was charged for supposed room damage, but nobody showed me photos, evidence, or an inspection. My stay was disappointing and felt unfair. I was fasting during Ramadan and had paid for breakfast, asking for suhoor instead. It never arrived, and no one told me I had to collect it at reception, so I went all day without eating.

The rooms were quiet and breakfast was good, but small things shouldn't go wrong at a hotel that isn't cheap. There was no hand soap in the toilet, and when I mentioned it, they gave me a dispenser to install myself. We arrived late and the receptionist's welcome felt very distant. We were told we'd get the room that was ready.

The staff coordination around breakfast was poor. Since we were leaving early the next morning, I checked with reception the night before and was told breakfast was included. I asked them to remove it, and the staff member said it would be cleared by morning. Instead, I spent about 15 minutes discussing it with someone else at the front desk. This was especially frustrating because when I checked in, I had asked whether breakfast was included and was told it wasn't, yet they charged me.
