Insulaner Apartments

I paid €269 for two nights at Rickmers Insulaner Dependance, without breakfast. There were some nice touches in the clean room, including a small refrigerator, bathroom, and coffee maker, but the sloped-ceiling room with one window was practically uninhabitable. I kept hitting my head on beams, the bay window, and the ceiling, day and night. The bed was very narrow and had little headroom. At home, I'd have used a room like that to store suitcases and bags. Rickmers was making a lot of money from me each night, and two breakfasts would have cost another €68. Fortunately, I could still think clearly despite the bumps, so I moved out. I'm happy in my new accommodation.

The staff were very friendly. The rooms aren't huge, but they have what you need, and the refrigerator even comes partly stocked on the first day. You can use those contents for free. There was also a champagne reception at 4 pm on day one, a nice touch where you learn a few things.

The promenade, beach, and sea were right outside, and the location couldn't have been better. We had a clean, comfortable double room with a balcony and sea view.

It's a nice room, really, but the single-room bed is only 80 cm wide. The wall is right on one side, and on the other I had to be careful not to roll off. The whole house is extremely noisy too, with a door slamming somewhere every few minutes.
