ibis Jena City

The room was small but had what we needed, and the WiFi was free and reliable. There’s an elevator and a front desk. You need the keycard to turn on the room’s electricity. We also bought the breakfast buffet, and it was worth it. They even had Heinz ketchup. The hotel is comfortable and right in central Jena.

The hotel is right in the heart of the city, which was its best feature, but the stay itself fell short. We could hear people walking outside and other room doors slamming, and the bathroom smelled a bit. I’ve had good experiences with IBIS in other cities, so I was disappointed by this one in Jena. It could use improvements for a more comfortable stay.

The hotel’s central spot, right by the Göthe passage and main square in Jena, is appealing. The room was clean and tidy, but it needs a more useful closet for longer stays, and the small bathroom doesn’t fit well in the room. Most employees were friendly and helped us several times when the door coding system caused problems. Breakfast seemed overpriced to me, though I do like the waffle maker.

The staff were the best part of our pleasant stay. They were cordial and supportive throughout. Breakfast was good, and the location worked really well, with public transport close by and everything we needed nearby.
