Hotel & Restaurant Traube

There were six of us, and we had a wonderful weekend. The hosts and staff were so attentive and went the extra mile, even with staff shortages at the time. The modern rooms were really comfortable, and the restaurant food was fantastic. We tried different dishes on both evenings, and everything was excellent. Thank you! We'd love to return.

The food was quite good, which made the way the evening was handled a shame. We were three couples there for dinner, hoping for a relaxed evening, but felt rushed through it. After aperitifs and ordering wine, the appetizers came, then the salads for the main course almost right away. When we asked for a short pause, we were told the main course was already prepared, and it arrived alongside the salad. It didn't feel customer-focused, more as if the chef just wanted to finish work, and that wasn't acceptable. We would have liked another bottle or two of wine, but ended up having to do that at home. We were only there for dinner, not an overnight stay.

The menu has a very good selection of dishes, starters and desserts for people without dietary restrictions. I was invited to a family celebration at Restaurant Traube, and had a hard time finding anything I could eat. The server said they couldn't change much about the combinations, though they might adjust or swap a few ingredients, and that the chef had planned the menu's combinations and concept, so they'd need to check with the kitchen. They did try to accommodate small requests, but it was difficult. In the end, I felt frustrated because there was little flexibility. I had to skip both starter and dessert, and could only find the rump steak that suited me. At a restaurant in this higher price range, I expected more flexibility. The customer should be king, not the chef. The rump steak was good quality and the fried potatoes were OK. This is an honest review, meant to encourage improvement.

We found this great restaurant and hotel at short notice for our group of six. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished, and the food was varied and delicious. Service was friendly and very attentive. We had a wonderful weekend all around.
