Five minutes on foot from the station, with both stairs and a lift. The air-conditioned room was generous in size and had a kitchenette with a kettle, fridge, microwave, sink, washing-up liquid and sponge, dishes, and cutlery. They’d even left sweets and free minibar drinks, including a local beer. I can’t think of a bad word to say. This might be my favorite hotel in the whole world.

The staff were very friendly, and I liked having a hot shower with strong pressure. Check-in at the machine was easy at any time. Breakfast was very good, with lovely vegan options like oat milk, grilled vegetables, spreads, muesli, couscous salad, and fresh fruit and vegetables. There was also a small fridge in the room with complimentary drinks.

The breakfast buffet was extraordinary for a hotel this size, and the receptionist and kitchen staff were exceptionally friendly. Our room was clean, and the minibar had four drinks for us. Little touches like gummy bears on the bed made it feel personal. It’s a lovely small hotel near the train station, yet on a quiet street, and many rooms look onto a courtyard. We highly recommend it.

I’d come back any time. The place was very quiet, with a calm street and zoo park at the front, and a large residential courtyard at the back. It’s close to the city’s main public transport hub, and the German-style rolling shutters shut out the light so the room gets really dark. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, which was especially welcome in summer, and even the small-room fridge worked well. Guests can get free German sandwiches around the clock. Staff were so kind and helpful that they let me into an unused room early. I’d just finished an 18-hour trip and had a doctor’s appointment ahead, so I really appreciated it. I’d give them eight stars if I could. Definitely a go!
