Our arrival day had been forgotten, and the apartment was dirty, dusty, moldy, and so musty that we had to keep airing it out. We had to pay cash, but they couldn’t give us change, which took more than a week to get back. The promised hygiene products, toilet paper, and other items were missing, and no one answered our WhatsApp messages. There also wasn’t a private parking space, despite what was claimed. The husband’s goodbye was the only friendly part. A picture says it all.

The room and bathroom were quite clean, but that couldn’t make up for the rest of the stay at Giese's private accommodation in Kiel. I’d read comments about the landlord being unfriendly, and unfortunately they were right. The room also felt cluttered, with all sorts of things in it, and wasn’t furnished in a thoughtful or harmonious way. I called after 9 p.m. to say I was trying to check in, and the landlord replied sharply, “That's not possible, I don't do that... except maybe for regular customers.” It made me feel like a second-class guest. That kind of treatment fell far short of the hospitality I expect from a reputable place. I won’t be a repeat customer, and I’d advise others against booking. The owners’ unfriendly manner and lack of attention to detail left me disappointed, and I can’t recommend Giese Private Rentals in Kiel.

The room was large and nicely furnished, but it wasn’t clean. The terrace was unusable, with dirt on the table, chairs, and floor. There were hairs in the bathroom and on the bedsheets, plus cobwebs throughout the room. I booked in February, so there’d been plenty of time to clean properly. The included breakfast cost €4 for my daughter and €8 for me, but wasn’t worth it: we got partly raw bread rolls, a little butter, a slice of cheese, some sausage, and jam. On arrival, I was scolded for parking in a private spot, though I hadn’t known it was private. When I checked in with my 3-year-old daughter, the owners, who live right below, said they hoped she wouldn’t make a racket. It felt very unpleasant. I personally wouldn’t book here again.

The owners were almost rude when we greeted them, and we didn’t feel welcome or comfortable during our one-night stay. We’re a couple in our late 40s with a 5-year-old child, and stayed on the first floor of the main house. We were taken in by the beautiful photos on the Giese guesthouse website, but the room looked run-down and outdated, with mismatched furniture and dishes. The pictures must be many years old. The price was completely out of line with what we got. The room was dusty and dirty, with cobwebs in the corners. The bed linen was badly crumpled, leaving us wondering if someone had slept in it before us. Some furniture was damaged and patched with tape, including the wooden bed. The seating area that looked so nice in the photos was filthy and grimy, and the furniture there was dirty too. We wouldn’t want to spend any time in it. Absolutely not recommended!!!!
