Schwarzwald Parkhotel

A stay I’d rather forget. After about 7 pm, there didn’t seem to be any staff around. We were given a number to call, and the lady who answered was curt and very unkind. We needed help opening a door that had shut with us on the inside. She wouldn’t help and called a locksmith instead, then went back to bed. She said the key was inside, but safety rules require the door to be openable from outside at any time. She also threatened to call the police because we’d disturbed her afternoon or evening sleep. Absurd. You’re already in the middle of the forest, and feeling abandoned in the hotel makes it even worse. Problems happen, but kindness should be a basic requirement in this job. We found none of it there. And there’s no wifi.

HORROR HOTEL. The staff’s “s-courtesy” was something else. I was locked outside my door and got no help getting back in. They accused me of breaking it, then left me alone to deal with a locksmith who spoke only German, so I couldn’t communicate with him. I had to pay him too. Later, the whole building was dark, including the parking area. I needed a torch and nearly fell into a hole. If you want to save money and stay safe, don’t come here.

It’s an older hotel, but it was comfortable and very clean. The staff were kind and helpful, and it worked wonderfully for our group’s meetings as well as our stay. I’d definitely return.

The restaurant meals were delicious, and breakfast was very good, especially the Schwarzwald cake. The hotel has a large property tucked away in a quiet forest location. It used to be a sanatorium for children with asthma and bronchial problems. My room was a bit old but clean, and the staff were friendly. I recommend this hotel.
