We spent two winter nights here, and the bed was comfortable. The rooms were warm and very clean, and breakfast was excellent. It's an older hotel with lots of charm, run by the colorful, friendly original owner. The bistro bar attached to it is lovely, with delicious traditional food. Seriously, the food there is excellent, so book a dinner reservation. The location is great, right in the pedestrian center and by a Christmas market. There's a small parking area about five minutes from the door. This felt like a very local stay, and we'd happily come back. The rooms aren't fully soundproof, but the price is good for a budget stay. There's no elevator, which is typical of German pensions and local hotels, unlike chain hotels. We've traveled all over Germany. I don't speak German, but my husband does, and we got along great. Book it!

The room was okay, just okay. Maybe this was a fantastic experience 20 years ago, but now it feels only a little better than a flop house. It was hard to find, and there were no directions about parking. The restaurant was closed when we arrived. We got there about ten minutes before the Bistro opened and were shooed away. After walking around for a while, we were seated outside. When the rain started, the hostess turned on the outdoor heat, which was a plus. The food and service were nothing special. Being right in the center of Lahr means you can walk to everything, but parking is a hassle. There is paid parking, and it becomes free from 5pm until 8am. The hotel itself was disappointing. The beds were uncomfortable, the walls were so thin I could hear everything next door, and the water glasses in the room were dirty. Breakfast wasn't anything special, and at 5€ I'd rather go to a local bistro.

The room was very clean, which was a plus, but the place feels like stepping back into the 80s. The TV didn't work properly, and WiFi only reached the lobby. For a business trip, that was a real letdown. It might be fine if you're after a budget place, but I wouldn't stay here again.
