Hotel Design Apart

The one good thing is the location, right in the middle of Alt Stadt (old town). There’s no reception, and you usually have to call the number in your reservation to get someone to open the door, since nobody is around at the hotel. The staff who sometimes show up don’t speak English and don’t seem trained. During my stay, a staff member came into my room without knocking. Housekeeping wasn’t up to the mark either. This used to be a good hotel when it was Centro Hotel Design Apart, but now it’s just called Design Apart. Better to leave it off your itinerary.

The room was also noisy at night because there’s a disco close to the hotel, and the music was very loud. I stayed for two nights, from the 24th to the 26th of january 2017, and had no working heater the first night or during the day on the 25th. The temperature in the room was very low. An employee assured me it would be fixed for the second night, but they only provided one small portable heater. As I told them, it wasn’t powerful enough for a decent temperature, which is why I’d asked for two. The second night was cold too. I paid euro 282 for two nights, and they proposed a refund of euro 28. That’s not the right way to treat guests.

It’s good value for money and nicely placed for enjoying the nightlife in Dusseldorf. Fridays and Saturdays might be noisy, though it didn’t seem to be a problem on the upper floors.

Horrible experience. The manger canceled my reservation and left us out on the street just one hour before I was due to arrive, even though I’d confirmed my credit card details the day before and they’d confirmed the booking. Horrible!
