Erbacher Hof

Just steps from the cathedral, Christmas Market, and shops, the location is hard to beat. It’s a conference centre rather than a typical hotel, so there isn’t really a lounge or evening meals. Still, the accommodation was clean, the service friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet more than adequate. I’d recommend it.

I spent five days at Erbacher Hof Tagungszentrum und Gästehaus des Bistums Mainz and had a wonderful stay. The staff were welcoming, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very clean, making them good for both working and resting. The food stood out too, with every meal exceeding my expectations. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mainz.

The big problem during the extreme heat of the last few days was that our room had no air-conditioning. They provided a fan, but it didn’t help much. The staff clearly did their best, though this should be mentioned in the room description given how often extreme climate conditions are occurring. It’s a pity, because everything else was great: friendly, helpful staff, a perfectly placed hotel near the Dom, old town, and river, and a manageable 1.4 km walk from the station. Breakfast was fresh, well prepared, and had plenty of choice.

The rooms are large, the staff very kind, and the value for money is good. It’s conveniently close to the city centre and cathedral, with a handy garage.
