The breakfast was good quality, and the cleaning service itself was good. The location is great, just a 3 min walk from the Hbf. I stayed at Intercity Mainz for 5 nights on a business trip, but the room was quite uncomfortable because insects kept appearing. There was always one insect, possibly a silverfish, along with two other types. They were on the walls, with many behind the curtain by the window and on the bathroom floor. There was also a different insect on the sofa chair. One smaller issue, an unpolished dent on the desk ended up ruining my knitted cardigan while I was working on my laptop. The insect problem really needs to be improved.

In 2026, if I can’t get online without making an account and handing over my email address for endless, pointless offers, I’m not coming back. It feels terribly manipulative.

The location is perfect for things to do in Mainz, and even for trips to Frankfurt, if the trains run properly. The bathroom was okay, and breakfast adequate but nothing special. The room wasn’t the cleanest place in the world. You’d probably feel more at ease if you didn’t look under or behind the bed. The staff could be friendlier, though German service is famous for its peculiarities.

The check-in was quick, and the staff were very helpful. It’s handy for the HBF station, and the rooms were clean and very well soundproofed. The pillows were extremely soft for me, the only real downside. I didn’t have breakfast. A typical 3 star German hotel, nothing special, but it does the job.

The breakfast downstairs was a real highlight, with loads to choose from and a small, good-quality plant-based section. We were traveling with a big tour group, and they opened the restaurant early on our departure day so we could have one last proper meal. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, and the complimentary sparkling water was a nice extra. Our room felt modern and clean but was still comfortable, with plenty of closet space. Though the hotel isn't right downtown, Mainz's center is an easy walk and there’s plenty of transit nearby. It was quiet inside despite the busy area. Watch out for the bike lane just outside.
