Hotel Garni Moers

The central location is the only reason for the one star. The room was uncomfortably hot, and after a 12-hour workday I just wanted to sleep. Around 11 p.m. the power went out, leaving me without the TV, phone charging, or lights. Then my stomach started itching. When I used my phone flashlight, I found red bed bugs and smaller beetles crawling on me, plus what looked like dried blood at the head of the bed. A competent cleaner should have caught that. I grabbed my things and left straight away, taking a few photos as proof. There was also another guest's very audible activity around 2 a.m., with the window open, that the whole neighborhood could hear. Never again, I couldn't rest or relax here.

The hot drink and snack machines are a great idea for other hotels too. The staff were really helpful and friendly, and having the owner nearby was lucky because my code wouldn't work. I was only after a few central nights without much fuss, but the room disappointed me: the cleaning felt superficial, and there was a really pungent smell, like sweat mixed with bad fruit deodorant. I was too tired to make much of it.

The room was spotless, nicely furnished, and comfortable. I especially appreciated the fresh water, the personal greeting, and the staff checking in proactively to see if everything was alright. From check-in onward, everyone was warm, attentive, and professional, and they took the time to help with individual needs. I felt very welcome and comfortable. Thanks to the whole team, I'll definitely return and recommend the hotel.
