Hotel Royal

The building is older and has some atmosphere, but we had no problems with the room or its facilities. There was enough space, plenty of outlets, a table, well-placed light switches, and heating that was easy to adjust. The light insulation was fine, and all the locks worked smoothly. Noise carried a bit through the old building and wooden stairs, but that was completely okay for us. The location is good unless you're arriving by car with really heavy bags. It seems there's no way to park right there, though convenient public parking is three blocks away. The usual three-star hotel amenities were in place. They apparently have 24-hour reception in high season, but it wasn't operating at the end of March. The same key opened both our room and the front door, which seemed perfectly adequate in the low season. Someone from the team was easy to find in the cafe, 10 meters from the front door. Nothing spectacular, but everything worked like clockwork for us. We had a really good long weekend, at least 8.5 / 10.

It's a quaint little hotel, and our room was clean and tidy. There's a nice terrace on the first floor. I just wish there were tea and coffee facilities. We like a cuppa when we wake up and before bed, so having that option would be nice.

The room was really quiet, and the bed was good. The bathroom is a bit small but acceptable. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff kept offering refills of coffee or tea. A very nice place for a weekend, and I'd recommend it in Monschau.

A super nice family-run hotel, with service that was very forthcoming. It felt just like the authentic German countryside experience you'd expect. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast was good.
