Hotel Bayer's

We were especially glad to have free coffee and tea at reception during our chilly February visit to Munich. The hotel was very close to the city centre, and the clean, pleasant rooms felt like great value for the price. It was even better than we expected, and we’ll definitely come back.

We came back to a room with no heating after a cold December night in Munich, and there was no hot water for showers either. A bed, warmth, and hot water are the basic things we paid for, yet two of those three were missing and nobody warned us. Reception brought a small portable heater, but it couldn’t warm the room enough. We emailed the hotel and got no reply. We also haven’t been able to leave a review on Booking.com. It was a huge inconvenience during our stay.

It’s a decent place overall, though it was a little expensive. The location near the Train Station and Altstadt is a real plus. WiFi was somewhat slow, but I had no other complaints.

The room was cramped, smelled bad, and had walls that looked like they hadn’t been painted in years. The location was terrible, too. A friend visiting Munich had booked a double room for one person. After we went for drinks, it got late and I had no train home, so he invited me to stay. At about 3am, after we’d gone upstairs and fallen asleep, reception called and said he had to pay an extra 35€ because I was staying. I’d told them I was only visiting, not staying, when we arrived. Charging that much for a few hours felt unreasonable, especially since the price difference for one or two people is usually small. The staff member was very rude. I’ve never had an experience like it.
