H2 Hotel München Olympiapark

The staff were nice, and breakfast was okay. The room was reasonable for what we paid, but it had very few amenities, not even a glass for water. The shower door was missing its rubber seal, leaving a big gap that soaked the floor. No one fixed it during our two-night stay.

The location isn’t right by Munich’s main attractions, but the U3 makes getting around easy. You can reach almost anywhere in about 25 minutes. Reception service was amazing, though check-in took a while with so many people waiting. The room itself was fine, but cleaning could have been better: there was hair on the floor and in the shower, and the clean towels had dark white spots and felt rough. Nothing ruined the stay, but the bed linens seemed cheap despite being clean. The bed was okay, while the pillows felt like flat potato sacks. Breakfast had the basics, nothing special, and was packed even early in the morning. It gets the job done without headaches, but I can’t think of anything especially good to praise.

The Wi-Fi was fast enough for streaming Netflix, and I’d come back for another business trip. Breakfast was fine, and for a three-star hotel it was very good and clean, at least up to the ceiling where spider webs were visible. I asked to borrow a duster to clear them, which would have taken 30 seconds, but I don’t know why it hadn’t been done.

I expected a good stay, so I’m surprised this place has positive reviews. Breakfast was awful: powdered scrambled eggs, spam shaped like meatballs instead of a proper hot meal, poor juice and coffee, mediocre ham and cheese, and artificially colored, flavored jam. It was obvious they were cutting ingredient costs, and on the last day we barely ate anything. Both rooms had lighting faults. A repairman flipped the breakers, but the problem returned the next night. The bathroom fans were noisy and ran all the time. Most staff were okay, but one receptionist was clearly in a bad mood, rolled her eyes at us, and muttered strange remarks. I’ve never had that kind of experience with hotel staff before.
