Holiday Inn Munich - City Centre by IHG

Getting around Munich with the family was easy thanks to the convenient location, good transport links, and easy access to the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made for a comfortable, pleasant family stay. Staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. It struck a nice balance between comfort, location, and service. We’d happily return and recommend it to families visiting Munich.

Update after checking in for a return visit: we felt very welcome last time, but this check-in was rather brisk. On my previous visit, my IHG Platinum status was fully recognized. This time I was told some benefits didn’t apply because of the booking channel, even though I’d booked the same way before. The issue isn’t the missing welcome drink or points, but how inconsistently some of IHG’s most loyal guests are treated. I hope we feel more welcome next time. On our earlier stay, the hotel’s convenient location near the city center, public transport, and everyday amenities was a big plus. There’s a mall next door with shops including a supermarket and drug store. An S-Bahn station is directly below the hotel, and the tram is only steps away. It’s a functional, good value Holiday Inn, with clean, well equipped rooms for the price and friendly, attentive service throughout. My IHG status was acknowledged then, with a room upgrade, welcome drinks, and late checkout. The public areas, including the lobby bar, are pleasant and inviting. Coffee for guests in the lobby would make them even better. We’ll be back the next time we visit Munich.

The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The beds and blankets were really comfortable, though the extra bed wasn’t so good. The red and yellow striped curtains and bold carpet gave the interior a funky look. Staff were friendly, at least.

The location is handy for a short visit, with a direct train to the airport from the station. Coming from the main train station, it’s a short train ride to Rosenheimer Platz, and an underground walkway from the station makes it easy to reach the hotel, even late at night or in winter. My family and I stayed for two nights at the end of our trip. The reception worker didn’t look happy to check us in, and seemed to have formed an impression of us before we’d even reached her. Service could be better, though the check-in itself was quick. Overall, it’s a good option to consider for a short stay.
