Hotel Altschwabing

The rooms are beautifully put together, and the hostess clearly has a great eye for design. Staff are thoughtful and often go out of their way to make my stay work well; I always value their local tips. Das Altschwabing is just around the corner from Münchner Freiheit, three stops from the city center, yet it feels tucked away from the bustle. Schwabing is lovely, with good coffee spots and restaurants a short walk away. I’m looking forward to returning to this unique boutique hotel.

It was a little hard to spot the address because there isn’t a large street sign, but the hotel’s email directions helped. The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the reception was friendly and patient over email. Wi-Fi was good. The location is great, near Münchner Freiheit station and the English garden, with a nice walking route to the old town. There was a TV, though I didn’t try it. A small bookshelf with a few books would be a nice addition to the units.

The bed was comfy, and the place felt like a home away from home. Everything was super clean, the furnishings clearly chosen with care, and the people were friendly. Highly recommend!

The room didn’t match the pictures, and several things were wrong: the shower and toilet didn’t work, there was just one bath towel for three people, no A/C, and the main lights were out. There were exposed wires as well. We called right away but nobody answered. Staff leave at 2 PM, so we couldn’t get the problems sorted then. We left in the morning for another hotel. Getting out of the garage was awkward too, I had to crawl through the hatchback of my car to exit the parking spot. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
